Although there is no mobility scooter insurance requirement legally, several institutions highly recommend it.
The Department For Transport state "it is strongly advised that people take out insurance to cover personal safety, other people’s safety and the value of the vehicle."

From a legal standpoint, there is no requirement for you to insure your mobility scooter. However, just because it is not a legal requirement, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider it. Mobility scooter insurance is recommended by both The Department For Transport and several user groups, including Disabled Motoring UK.
