Do I need this insurance?
If you are employing a carer or PA you legally require Employers Liability insurance. This is covered in all our Home Employment Insurance policies.
If your carer is self-employed (they pay their own tax and national insurance) you do not need the Employers Liability cover but may still wish to be covered for Public Liability. We also offer a Personal Care Assistant policy for self-employed carers.
How many carers are covered under one policy?
There are no limits on the number of carers covered with the Home Employment Insurance policy.
Who is classed as the employer?
The employer is the person looking after the affairs of the person receiving care, this could also be the same person.
Are service users covered outside the home?
Yes. Whenever they are with the carer, either inside or outside the home, the insurance will still cover them.
Am I covered for redundancy?
Yes. As long as they are related and live at the same address.
How can I access my policy documents?
You can setup your own personal account via our website which allows you to access your policy documents at any time.
I’m unsure about my legal responsibilities as an employer?
